Jinjiang Crossing: Tunnel Riverbed Project Completed
After 22 days of hard work, at 4 pm on November 25, the welding of the last pipe joint in the underwater tunnel of the Jinjiang crossing project of the West Second Line East Section was completed. At 6:30 pm, the 535-meter-long pipeline was completely crossed, and the underwater tunnel project was successfully completed.
The Jinjiang crossing project is located in Gao'an City, Jiangxi Province, and is one of the control projects of the West Second Line pipeline project. Due to the small cross-section of the tunnel for top-driven crossing and the limited working space at the bottom of the operation well, the installation of the 1219 mm diameter pipeline is quite difficult. The project department of Pipeline Fourth Company and the project department of China Railway Sixteenth Bureau cooperated closely and used the forward pulling method to complete the main pipe crossing.
Due to the tight schedule, the project department of Pipeline Fourth Company will arrange two construction crews to work continuously day and night, and will start installing the S-shaped return pipeline in the starting well and receiving well soon.
Qiantang River Shield: Pipeline Pressure Test Completed
On November 24, the pipeline pressure test and deep water sweeping operation of the Qiantang River shield project, a key project of the Shanghai branch line of the West-East Gas Pipeline II East Section, were completed.
The Qiantang River shield project of the West Second Line has a total length of 2900 meters, a design pressure of 10 MPa, and a diameter of 1016 mm. This project is currently the longest small-section, long-distance shield tunnel in China.
To solve the problem of communication blind spots in the tunnel, the scientific research personnel of the Pipeline Bureau launched technological research, systematically solved the problems of wireless communication inside and outside the shield tunnel, and made improvements item by item. After nearly a month of on-site installation and debugging, the wireless communication project inside and outside the shield tunnel was successfully tested in the Qiantang River shield, filling the gap in the field of wireless communication for shield tunnels in the Pipeline Bureau. This is the first time that China has successfully implemented a small-section, long-distance pipeline shield tunnel wireless communication project.
During the construction of the project, due to the narrow space inside the tunnel, large equipment could not enter. The Qiantang River shield installation project department continuously innovated technology and modified equipment to solve various problems. Staff overcame difficulties such as dampness and stuffiness in the tunnel, carefully organized, reasonably allocated resources, reorganized the original construction teams, and implemented continuous 24-hour construction to improve work efficiency. Nanning Branch Line: Gas Dragon Passes Through "Flowing Sand Swamp"
Before arriving at the construction site of the Nanning branch line project of the Pipeline Fifth Company, the reporter heard that the pipeline construction in Zhaoqing, Guangdong and Wuzhou, Guangxi was exceptionally difficult. In early November, the reporter braved the continuous rain and followed the pipeline to this place.
The Nanning branch line area is densely populated with limited land. The second, third, and fourth sections of the Nanning branch line constructed by the Pipeline Fifth Company pass through Zhaoqing, Guangdong and Wuzhou, Guangxi, with a total length of 289.5 kilometers. The construction area is mainly composed of hills, low mountains, inter-hill valleys, and inter-mountain plains, with rivers, fish ponds, and paddy fields distributed crisscross. In an operation zone of only 170 meters, more than 30 households' farmland is involved.
In mid-April this year, as soon as the Nanning branch line project started, the employees of the Nanning branch line project department of the Pipeline Fifth Company encountered difficulties.
The complex geological conditions in the area are a major challenge for the constructors. Project department employees said that this is something they have never encountered in previous constructions.
The geological conditions in the mountain valleys are harsh, and the construction area is narrow. Under the 200 mm to 300 mm deep humus soil, there is bottomless quicksand, like a swamp. Generally speaking, let alone heavy equipment, even if a person falls in, they will "sink deeper the more they struggle". The four welding crews that first entered the Nanning branch line construction all had equipment sinking into the quicksand. An excavator cooperating with the CPP519 crew was swallowed by the "quicksand swamp" even when steel plates were laid. It took the project department 7 days to use various methods to rescue the equipment.
The abundant rainfall and high temperatures in the area also pose great difficulties for construction. The area has a tropical monsoon climate with a long rainy season. From April to September, there is at least one heavy rain every day. Plains are flooded when they encounter water, and mountain construction is even more difficult.
Faced with numerous difficulties, the project department carried out technological research. In view of the special geological conditions such as paddy fields and swamps, the project department invested 620 pieces of 16 mm thick steel plates for road paving to ensure equipment passage. Since there is a lot of rain locally, the project department seizes the opportunity to work when the rain is light. The local temperature is high, humid and stuffy. The construction crew arrives at the construction site at 4 am every day, rests at noon to avoid the high temperature period, and then works from 3 pm to 9 pm.
At the construction site, the reporter felt the harsh construction environment. After a heavy rain, the temperature quickly rose to 40 degrees Celsius. In the humid work area, even if the employees stand still, their work clothes will be soaked with sweat. After two hours of continuous work, the employees can pour out water from their rain boots. The employees said that it was sweat flowing down their bodies into their boots. To cope with high-temperature operations, the project department equipped the crews with large-capacity ice boxes to ensure that the crew members could drink ice water and mung bean soup every day. They also provided anti-heatstroke and cooling medicines for the employees and provided each employee with an extra set of work clothes for timely changes.
It is under such difficult conditions that all employees of the Nanning branch line project department of the Pipeline Fifth Company have overcome difficulties and used the spirit of "ants gnawing on bones" to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
